CONCLUSION ? My POV ...
Overall, I think I can categorize the whole event as "good" ... A big TQ to the Organizing Committee ! I know this is a mammoth scale assignment, and u guys hv put in a lot of efforts & initiatives (not to mention sacrifices ?) to ensure a smooth running of this event. Good job everyone !
Many staff (reps) from all over KPTM branches hadir. Byk aktiviti fokus kpd makan-main-makan-main ... siap ada artis jemputan lagi untuk menghibur semasa dinner ;)
But still I don't see much integration demonstrated between staff of "different feathers" ... masing2 wat hal masing2 jer ... many still prefer to flock together among their own clans ! Even during makan time.
For future upgrades ? I would like to suggest that the organizer slot in a special segment where all staff can get together as one jemaah to perform Solat Hajat / tahlil & baca Yasin beramai2 / or invite a prominent Ustaz / motivation speaker to talk on special topic of interest to the organization etc ... the sky is the limit !
At least dapatlah barokah lebih sikit drp event yg belanja besar cenni ;)
Last Saturday Oct 3rd, I had the opportunity to attend Kolej Poly-Tech MARA’s 26th convocation held at Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC). As the invitation came in quite last minute, at first I was a bit unsure whether to attend or not. But now I’m glad that I did.
It was an auspicious & joyful event indeed. With a total graduate of roughly 1700, it is the largest number ever produced by KPTM since its establishment in 1983. This time the event has to be split into 2 sessions – one in the morning & the other in the afternoon.
Based on the Buku Program, the afternoon session was expected to end at 1800 hrs, but they manage to conclude everything by 1630 hrs. I was informed that not many students under the collaboration program with UiTM turned up. I guess may b they prefer to attend UiTM’s graduation ceremony more than KPTM’s, or could it b that they did not receive invitation ? … wallahu a’lam.
I had a great time at PICC. Had opportunities to meet & mingle with old friends, colleagues & ex-students from other branches. PICC is really a nice place, with easy parking & the food was good too - thanks Maizul ;)
Tapi yg paling best ia lah bila dpt bersua dgn bekas2 pelajar yg bergraduat. I guess that’s the climax for anyone in the education sector ! It’s really a great feeling when ur ex-students wave their hands upon seeing u, tegur to say TQ & mentioned that they miss ur lectures ! Wow, masa tuh terasa lah jugak kembang-kecup sekejap ;) heh3. Astaghfirullah ... Hrp2 diorg nih sincere lah bila mereka kata mcm tuh ttg pengajaran kita …
Many of them took classes w me in The Digital Society (346IS), Business Info Systems Strategy (331IS) & Group Projects (201KM) when I was teaching in KPTMKL from 2007-2009. Some of them were from KPTM Alor Star, when I was their College Director from 2005-2007.
Their happy smiling face tells it all. Everybody was in a happy & joyous mood. Ramai jugak yg ajak nak bergambar dgn saya. Felt like I’m the center of attraction la pulak – prasan lah tuh ! Penjual di gerai bunga kat tingkat bawah tu pun kelihatan sgt gumbira sbb semua bunga2 abis di jual ! Semua pakat beli utk bagi kat their loved ones ! To all my ex-students : I’m very happy & proud w ur achievements. U deserve it all !
Tp yg paling berbangga sekali pd event ari tuh saya rasa ialah parents kpd para graduan. Diorg sanggup dtg dari jauh, membelanjakan byk wang ringgit, demi utk menghadiri & menyaksikan sendiri event & saat yg paling penting & bermakna dlm sejarah hidup anak2 mereka. To all these parents : SYABAS & TAHNIAH atas kejayaan anak2 tuan2 & puan2 !
Dan saat yg paling touching bg saya pulak ialah pabila MC majlis menjemput both parents of Allahyarhamah Nor Aishah Mohamed to the stage. She passed away on 7 Nov 2008 after a long battle with Thalasemia major. She was one of the many good students in my 346IS class. TQ to Coventry University for being so "generous" in awarding her Posthumous Degree. I'm sure that means a lot to her parents. Al-Fatihah …
Overall, alhamdulillah I’m happy that the whole event runs well, but of course with minor hiccups here and there. But what can you expect ? Convocation ceremony is a mammoth event, requiring excellent planning, execution & monitoring – bukan calang-calang orang boleh handle !
I’m x sure other ppl realized this or not, but this time I see less emphasis was given to salutations in speeches. Kalau dulu2, siap berjela2 dgn salutasi hinggakan audien naik muak ! Kali nih straight forward to the point. Ladies & gentlemen, bla bla bla ... I like that !
Satu lg yg I suka ialah the deployment of JPA3 (Putrajaya) to ensure “law & order” at the event. So far I x see any untoward crisis happening on that day. Next yr boleh jemput diorg lg … ;)
Areas for future improvement ?
1. Bhg PR – Jemputan & edaran maklumat amatlah kurang efektif. Ramai x dpt info yg mencukupi / tepat, esp mereka di kampus cawangan. I believe there must b some communication breakdown somewhere.
2. May b can just forgo the gamelan ? This time it was so boring … can put u to sleep in less than 1/2 hr ! I thought next time may b we should give more slots to the more “contemporary” music. Honestly, the keyboardist aritu mmg best. He’s a savior ! Pandai pilih lagu2 & rentak yg sesuai. The moment he played his songs, almost all of us audience terkejut dari lena & start tapping our feet & fingers … If I were not seated in the front row, I would probably get up and dance ! Those lagu2 Hari Raya & the evergreen Sway really puts many of us in the mood again ! Syabas Mr Keyboardist !
3. More seats should be allocated for the lecturers. To me, convo is an event to celebrate our students’ academic achievements. Who else would b more appropriate to attend (besides the graduates & their loved ones) than the lecturer themselves ? I’m very sure that these students also want to see (& show off ?) their lecturers more than anybody else at this joyous occasion.
Akhir kalam, my syabas & tahniah to the urusetia & all those ppl involved as AJKs etc. Special mention to my closest of friends who hold big responsibilities in ensuring the smooth running of the event – Abd Azmi, Bro SFO, Sis BB, Bro Pian, Napi, Maizul, Hamidi, UstFazli.
Abd Azmi – for ur high spirit & endurance to shoulder both TRA & Rector’s responsibilities. If given to me, I don’t think I can execute it as well as him.
Bro SFO – our KPTM’s best Floor Mgr ever ! Bukan setakat floor jer dia cover, kalau boleh sampai kat dinding2 & siling2 pun dia nak manage ;) Dari pagi ke petang, I x nampak sekali pun dia sempat duduk – asyik ke hulu ke hilir always on the run to ensure smooth running of the event.
Sis BB - for her “motherly / sisterly final touches” to ensure semua graduan memakai jubah & mortar board masing2 dgn se-elok2 mungkin sebelum naik stage.
Bro Pian & Napi – both of them dgn penuh dedikasi & poyo nya menggunakan alat komunikasi wireless di tengah2 dewan depan para hadirin, demi utk memastikan pergerakan perarakan berjalan dgn lancar & sempurna.
Maizul – for the good food. Pandai u pilih kombinasi ! Cuma I x sempat nak merasa mee-hoon, diorg kata sedap !
Hamidi – lelaki KPTM bersuara jantan terakhir ? Next time saya rasa pihak JK Konvo perlu cari sorang lagi back-up MC lelaki bersuara jantan mcm dia ... klu x kesian Hamidi sorang, sampai nak hilang suara. (MC perempuan pulak ada 2-3 org utk disilihganti)
UstFazli – for the barokah of his doa – dgn izin Allah the whole event runs smoothly. To me, sesapa saja boleh baca teks doa, tapi tahap keberkatannya berbeza2 …
Yg lain2 tu jgn lah terasa plak… I tau ramai yg bertugas "di belakang tabir". Nama u all kan dah ada kat dlm Buku Program Konvo tuh ? Heheh … Anyway, ALL of u just did a great job guys ! Keep up the good work. KPTM Hebat ! Takbiir !
Note: Sorry guys kali nih x der fotos nak di upload – digicam I yg dulu tuh ada prob sikit ! kuang3 … nak kena cari ganti … x ada sesapa nak bagi hadiah digicam utk I ker ? X nak bagi yg canggih2 pun x per, kalu leh bg Olympus Tough 8000 pun kira ok lah ;)
Alhamdulillah, I thank God for giving me couple of "priceless" opportunities & exposures to do & experience myself the process of applying for Persatuan Alumni many years back. The first was for Persatuan Alumni KPTM Kuantan & the 2nd one was for Persatuan Alumni KPTM Alor Star.
Of course, we formed a special committee. But for Kuantan, most of the paperwork was done by Pn Mahani Mansor. While for Alor Star, Sdr Mudzir Mohamed was the champion. Without commitments from these guys & gals, susah jugak nak siapkan paperworks that r required by ROS / Jabatan Pendaftaran Pertubuhan (JPP).
Masa tuh belum ada byk maklumat2 yg boleh diperolehi dari websites Jabatan kerajaan, so we had to go to JPP Negeri (Kuantan & Alor Star respectively) to get info, borang2 & advice & tips etc.
But today, u just need to log on to : www.ros.gov.my. It's all there ! They even provide samples of club constitutions (perlembagaan) etc for our reference. And for the Application Form, u just download for free ! Very convenient ;)
The following is a simple procedure / guidelines for those who r interested to officially register their Persatuan with JPP.
First & foremost, JPP defines a "Pertubuhan" as a persatuan, kelab atau badan2 yg bergerak berasaskan keahlian mengandungi sekurang2nya 7 org, serta mempunyai tujuan2 tertentu, samada kekal atau sementara.
So how do u go about menubuhkan pertubuhan ?
1. Adakan satu mesyuarat penubuhan attended by at least 7 ppl, pastikan nama2 mereka yg hadir dicatatkan dlm minit mesy tersebut.
CARA MEMOHON PENDAFTARAN PERTUBUHAN ?
WHERE TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION ?
Permohonan pendaftaran pertubuhan hendaklah dikemukakan ke JPP Negeri di mana alamat berdaftar pertubuhan ditetapkan. U can rujuk alamat JPP Negeri di website ROS/JPP http://www.ros.gov.my.
Bagi sesapa yg dok kat S'gor, addr JPP Negeri Selangor is as follows:

Alhamdulillah, rasanya tahun ni lah antara Raya yg paling best - sbb dpt bersua semula dgn members kamceng zaman sekolah2 rendah dulu. Mmg lama berpisah, almost 30 years ! Yg sempat bertemu utk beraya tahun nih ialah :
Ayub Majid (running own business), Abdullah Suhaimin (MOF Putrajaya), Aziz Fahmy (own business), Wan Joehan (own business), Mat Yee (business & into politics), Nordin (Texas Instrument), Malik (NCER) & Dr Hasnan (owns Klinik Mata Mutiara).
& beranak (between 1 to 8). Overall, I wud say everyone of us managed to "maintain" our figures ... x byk berubah. Cuma ada lah sikit2 uban sana sini. Ada jugak yg dah kena high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthmatic & even pernah attacked by minor stroke - tp semua dgn confidentnya kata "within control" ... ;)
Relax nampaak ! Buat mcm rumah sendiri ... "Old friends" dtg beghaya kat rumah di Kubang Kerian. Almost 30 yrs x jumpa. From left : Aziz Fahmy (Zeek), Ayub Majid (Yub) & Abdullah Suhaimin (Lomin).

Sebelah pagi 2nd Raya sempat melawat kubur Che & Ayah (grandmother & grandfather on my Mama's side) di Tanah Perkuburan Tok Kenali - Al-Fatihah ...
Alhamdulillah, today is the 28th of Ramadhan. Dah dekat sgt kita dengan garis penamat. Segala kesyukuran dipanjatkan kpd Illahi kerana dgn izin & inayah Nya kita dianugerahkan kesihatan yg baik & kehidupan sempurna utk menjalankan ibadah puasa tahun ini. Next year, entah jumpa atau tidak lagi kita dgn Ramadhan.
Who knows ... may b ada dari kalangan kita (termasuk lah saya sendiri) yg sat lg dah sampai ajalnya & dipanggil pulang ke rahmatullah. If that is going to happen, tanya lah diri kita : "r we ready ?" R we ready to leave this world to meet Allah ? ... wallahu a'lam bissawab.
Sepanjang Ramadhan tahun ini, I noticed lots of focus & emphasis was given to FOOD, rather than ibadah ! Bukak jer TV, akhbar & magazines ... tu dia, pelbagai jenis juadah dihidangkan utk para peminat masing2. Right from artists to politicians, semua tetiba jer nak jd Chef Wan - berkongsi resipi masakan itu & ini.
Hotels & other popular food joints pun x kurang hebatnya. Promosi demi promosi bersepah2 dimerata tempat. Ada yg menawarkan pilihan menu sehingga 100 jenis. Of course its very tempting, esp with exotic menus /recipes yg kita x pernah dengar pun sebelum nih. Ada yg datang dari Mid East, Italian, Chinese cuisines etc ... you name it. Ada yg sanggup menempah kerusi 3 days in advanced !
Tak kurang juga yg sanggup spend sampai RM100++ per head, just utk berbuka puasa. Just imagine kalau 6 org - bukankah itu dah jd RM600 ? MasyaAllah. Bak kata Sdr Nabil : Lu pikir lah sendiri ! Ramadhan ialah bulan menahan nafsu, bukannya bulan muntahkedarah !
I've nothing against food. We all eat food. Tapi jgnlah ia menjadi keterlaluan sehingga makan itu melebihi ibadat. Ramadhan ialah bulan IBADAH & bukannya bulan makan ! Pihak media semolek2nya berilah fokus atau mempromosi supaya org ramai, khususnya yg Muslim tu timbul kesedaran utk menambah amalan ibadah & mengabdikan diri kpd Allah.
For instance, besides just showing programs of artists/politicians "showing off" their cooking skills or dropping by at Rumah Kebajikan etc for sahur, why not kita wat jugak prgs artists /politicians taking part delivering tazkirah at selected shopping complexes or pasar2 Ramadhan ?
Or these "prominent figures" can drop by at masjids & suraus thru out the country for solat tarawikh, qiamullail or bertadarus with the rakyat / peminat. I think it's x impossible - may b pihak2 berwajib can start doing this change from nxt Ramadhan onwards. Yeah, why x ? It would b a very nice change to see these happening in Malaysia.
My dear brothers & sisters, in just a couple of days Muslims around the world will celebrate Eid Mubarak or Hari Raya Eidul Fitri. Suka saya ingatkan di sini bhw hanya ada dua perayaan keagamaan yg diiktiraf oleh Allah swt dlm Islam - yakni Eidul Fitri (Raya Puasa) & Eidul Adha (Raya Korban a.k.a. Raya Haji).
Ia bukan lah suatu perayaan utk berseronok ikut hawa nafsu semata2. Therefore, jangan lah kita dok terikut2 dgn cara sambutan perayaan yg diamalkan oleh org bukan Islam.
Tak usah lah dok pulas kot mana sekali pun, perayaan Eid ini x kan sama dgn perayaan2 lain yg diamalkan oleh non-Muslims. Oleh yg demikian, saya ingin mengingatkan kita semua umat Islam supaya berhati2 dgn perayaan2 seperti Kongsi-Raya atau Deepa-Raya !
Ada do's & dont's yg perlu kita beri perhatian, jgn sampai kita hanyut & lara' dgn jenis perayaan org kafir yg banyaknya mengutamakan bersuka2 & berseronok.
Sesungguhnya sesiapa yg berpuasa genap sebulan dlm bulan Ramadhan & diikuti dgn 6 hari dlm bulan Syawwal, dia seolah2 telah berpuasa setahun penuh - masyaAllah mana nak dpt ganjaran bonus yg istimewa mcm tuh ! Jadi jgn lah kita sombong dgn Allah dgn mensia-siakan tawaran bonus yg dtg hanya sekali setahun saja nih. Grab it now as next yr we may x be around ;)
Akhir kalam, to all my Muslim friends, from the bottom of my heart I wish u a happy & most meaningful Eidul Fitri w all ur family members & friends. Maaf dzahir batin. Pls forgive me for all of my wrongdoings (if any) that may hv hurt ur feelings etc.
Ya Allah, the holy month of Ramadhan is leaving us. Please forgive our sins. Accept our prayers, our fasting, our charity & our deeds that we have done. And give us the continuous presence to welcome the coming of the next Ramadhan.
Alumni ... bila terdengar saje perkataan tuh saya pasti terasa lain mcm jer. Teringat balik kawan2 lama ... wajah2 serta watak & telatah perangai mereka, perkara2 yg dilakukan bersama2, pengalaman pahit manis yang dilalui ... mcm2 lg, pendek kata - endless. Membuat kita tersenyum mengenangkan nostalgia lama.
Rasa excited & seronok sbb dah lama x jumpa, dan mungkin gusar & kekok sbb x pasti how to act or react bila berdepan dgn orang yg dah lama x berjumpa. Lots of possibilities can happen actually... they may accept / reject u ! Serba salah kita dibuatnya.
I'm sure ramai yang masih ingat masa zaman2 kita bersekolah dulu. Masa tu popular dgn cerita Love Story - kalau x silap lakonan Mark Lester & Linda something. Semua remaja masa tuh sibuk dgn FRANCE - Friendship Remains And Never Can End. Siap tulis kat Buku Autograf kengkawan bila tiba akhir tahun. But do we all really believe in it ? Ada ker friendship yg x pernah ends ?
I used to trace for a long lost friend. We lost contact since 1987. Kalau dia terbaca lah blog post nih tentu dia tau who I'm talking abt. Mcm2 taktik & teknik I dah gunakan ... including search engines like Google Moogle etc, tapi x jugak dpt trace.
Tetiba baru2 nih muncul lah nama dia kat FB. Got very excited Tuhan saja yg tahu. Immediately introduced myself ... hoping to get some response.
Next day, to my surprise dia punya FB account tetiba jer not available w this msg appearing on screen : "The page you requested was not found". What happened ? I asked myself. Waited a couple more days, may b ada masalah technical somewhere kot. Wishful thinking ?
But after a week I realized that I hv to accept the fact that tidak semua orang yang kita nak jumpa tu nak jumpa kita ... Kuang kuang kuang !
So what happened to FRANCE ? Yg dulu nya beria-ia lah dgn slogan "friendship remains & can never end" ? heh3 ... I guess that's what makes our life interesting, right ? ;) Org nak, kita x nak. Org x nak, kita nak. Mcm citer2 drama kat TV tuh ... Or may b I shud x jump to conclusion too soon ... may b dia ada masalah lain yg kita x tau ... wallahu a'lam (trying to b +ve lah konon).
Lg pun, what can u expect after a 10-20 yrs of separation. Each one going into their separate ways. Lots of things cud hv happened along the way. And thru time ... people change !
Anyway, back to this ALUMNI thing ... I rasa bagus jika dpt get together again w old friends. At least to know how they r doing, what they r up to now, anak dah berapa treler, sihat ker, x sihat ker, perut dah boroi ker, atau kepala dah bersinar banar ... ;)
This Raya I'm going back to my hometown in Kubang Kerian - as usual. Cuma this time its gonna b a bit special coz we plan to meet w some old friends yg mmg dah berkurun2 lamanya x jumpa ... sejak dari zaman sekolah rendah ! Kayuh basikal together-gether pegi sekolah ... the memories brings u smile on ur face. I wonder how these guys gonna look like today ;) hehheh ... Lots of catch-up to do.
Last wk I received an sms from a good friend, Dr Suhaya Manap. Actually the content was a forwarded msg from another friend named ABDUL HAFIZ, ISU class of '84.
Sdr Hafiz nih tgh dlm usaha utk menghidupkan Persatuan Alumni Indiana State University (ISU), Terre Haute, Indiana, USA - the Malaysian Chapter ?
Personally, I rasa usaha Sdr Hafiz nih sgt murni & patut diberi pat-on-the-back, and of course the support. So saya sgt hrpkan sesapa ex-ISU Terre Haute yg membaca blog / msg nih, sila lah hubungi beliau spt berikut:
abdhafiz@streamyx.com
Info yg beliau perlukan ialah: Name, Yr of Grad, Mobile phone #, Email addr, Occupation & Place of work ... kalau nak tambah input2 yg lain pun leh lah jugak kot ;)
Saya hrp usaha Sdr Hafiz nih dpt membuahkan sesuatu yg baik & benefit all of us, esp Alumni of ISU Terre Haute ! InsyaAllah.
Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM) celebrated her 25th anniversary on Nov 22nd 2008, at KPTM Cawangan Kuantan. One may ask why Kuantan ? I guess may be because it all started over there - at Maktab Sains MARA (MSM), Km.8 Jalan Gambang, Kuantan, Pahang Darul Makmur - way back in September 1983 ! At that time MSM was also popularly known as MARA Community College (MCC) - lebih glamor !!
I joined MCC Kuantan in October 1987 as a Computer Science Lecturer. Masa tu, jalan masuk ke kolej pun masih berlopak & berselut lagi ... The following are some of the old photos that I still keep to remind me of the good old days working at KPTM, especially Kuantan ...
Feb 1988 - my first Faculty Meeting. Everybody looked very "engrossed" listening to the President (now known as Pengarah). Cam tak muka2 "lama" kat gamba nih ? On my left is Pn Nurul (now Pengurus AS'AD in HQ - some may disagree w me but she's the best boss I've ever worked with - TQ Pn Nurul, may Allah bless u & ur family!), Zeek Mo (now w TM), Hj Ghozali (now Pengarah Bangi), En AbdAzmi (now TRA), Man Roi (now lecturer at UPSI - sedang menjalani ibadah Haji). Yang membelakangi kamera tu pulak Hj Mokhtar (now with YPM). In the foreground (berbaju putih) seated sebelah saya tu ialah arwah Wan Abd Azim (AlFatihah ...). His wife Kak Wan Ubai (also our ex-lecturer) is now a Senator in Kelantan. Syabas - Takbiiir !
April 1988 - Staff lunch at Academic Block Fasa II. Everybody were very close with each other. Admin-academics work and eat together-gether ... Life was very simple then ... even with the very basic facilities. Kerja seronok - we were all like brothers & sisters. Barisan depan tu HawaNazreen, Eshlaini (now in HQ), Salma & Wan Ubai (now a Senator).
The 1996 KYPM Annual Sports held at Trolak. I played tennis, partner w Rahman Art (squatting on the far right). He's an all-rounder person - asal orang Perak tapi dah bermastautin di Kuantan. Siapa tak kenal Rahman Art maknanya dia bukan orang Kuantan lah. Anyway, our Kuantan team came out Johan Keseluruhan for that year. Just look at the trophies & medals we've collected... tak muat bas !! Poyo abis ...
As KJ CS, sedang bagi hadiah perkahwinan Hjh Wan Asiah & her husband (yg pakai spec tu). Guess what, now she's my boss pulak (KJ CS) in KL.
Amboi amboi amboi ... lebatnya misai dia ! At that time GL was our Ketua Jabatan CS. But a week or so after that he changed his mind and came back to Kuantan ! Kuang kuang kuang ... On the left & right is Azmi MdNor (now in Bangi) and Khalijah (still in Kuantan) respectively.
One of the many Annual Hari Keluargas we had - this one was held at Taman Pertanian Kuantan (a very nice place for gatherings !). Notice Pn Rosmawati Hamzah dok pegang kotak beracun tuh ... masa tuh masih Cik lagi ! Yang bertudung labuh tu Hjh Noraziah (now w UUM) & the green T-shirt is Jamilah. Looking on is Rahman Akhir.
Barisan pensyarah elite ... muda trang tang tang ! Notice we used to have many kaum Adam at that time. But today majority of our lecturers r kaum Hawa. 5th from left (between Rahman & myself) is En Ismail Junuh, now the Pengarah of KPTM Kuantan. On my left was our English expert Ahmad Nor (baru pencen dgn UUM). Man Black & Ku Mat Akhir is 1st & 2nd from the right. Second from left besides Ust Romli is arwah Fauzi (AlFatihah ...)
After Commencement Ceremony kat Pusat Islam KL. Masa tuh kita ada pensyarah Mat Salleh Amerika - Mr Jan Sarna (on the far left). Next to him is Fakaruddin, Kamal Zamli, Asri, Hafiz Yatim (now a senior reporter w NST), Mr K (Kunjapan) - ex-senior teacher yang sangat berpengalaman orang nya (I wonder where he is now ...), Khairil Wahidin (now a Dr w UPM), Rahman Art (my best sparing partner ever) and of course yours truly.
As a young Ketua Jabatan CS. Look at the desk ... mmg messy dari dulu lagi ! ;)
Our MCC Kuantan Volleyball "Dream-ing" Team... Yang tak pakai jersey berdiri sebelah kiri tuh is my good friend, a Libero player - now Timbalan Rektor Akademik. Recognize him ? On his left is Man Black (now a Dr at UiTM). Next to him is Man Roi (now at UPSI). Squatting on far right (w dark glasses) is another good friend, Dr Joe Janggo (now a Dean at one College Univ in Melaka - apa nama tuh cek dah lupa ?). Both of us were "setters" for the team.
The "original" team of CS Dept at MCC Kuantan. GL, Azmi Md Noor, yours truly, Dr Suhaya, Khalijah and two programmers (sorry dah lupa nama). Noticed the "green screen" computers ? Masa tu kita pakai komputer Seiko & HP3000 mini-mainframes. Compilers have to be uploaded from large magnetic tapes on daily basis. At that time where got laptops & UMPC one ... ;) Thumbdrives, CDs & SD cards were never heard of. But we survived !
As KJ CS kena layan VIP (Dr Nik Safiah) melawat Computer Dept. Hj Fattah (our President at the time) is on the left.
Itu kat depan tengah pelahap ialah En Midon - warden paling popular kat Kuantan, esp among the girls ?? On my left is Dzulkarnain, Hissan & Rahman Hassan.
Taken on the hilltop of Bukit Panorama, Sg Lembing together with my good friend Woakil-uddin - our Math lecturer from Bangladesh. Saja bawak dia melawat tempat2 menarik di sekitar Kuantan ... Now he's attched w UNITEN & currently reading PhD in UK.
Gamba nih semasa CS Dept wat BBQ Picnic dengan CS Club (pelajar) kat Pantai Balok, Kuantan. Tu dok tengah cari player untuk acara Tarik Tali ... En Ghazali Bahari (yg tengah sapu mata dek ditiup angin Laut Cina Selatan) is standing next to me. Ingat lagi kat dia tak ? He was our Pendaftar at Kuantan. Now a senior MARA Officer.
In the office - as Timbalan Pengarah Pentadbiran & Hal Ehwal Pelajar. Those were the days ... the wonderful days working with KPTM... Kuantan ! (TQVM to all those original warga KPTM Kuantan. You've made my life beautiful and colorful ! - You're always close to my heart.)
In 2003 I was transferred to HQ/KL as Ketua Unit R&D. Then in 2005 transferred to Alor Star as Pengarah Kolej. In 2007 I requested to come back to KL.
Today, 21 years later, I'm still in the system, but now in KPTM Kuala Lumpur as Senior Lecturer. Working life & atmosphere is definitely "different" now ... too much politicking I guess ! Education now seems to be 2nd in the list ... :(
