BROGA - revisited on 1-1-11

The first time I climbed Broga was abt 2 wks ago with my whole family. But this time i brought along my KPTM Trekker friends in conjunction with New Year 1 Jan 2011 ! We start climb very early at 0645hrs immediately after subuh prayers. .. masih dalam kegelapan n terpaksa guna headlamp.

Suasana pagi yang hening atas bukit sungguh menakjubkan. Cuaca pagi tu pun elok jer, alhamdulillah ...

Menghirup udara bersih ... FOC. TQ Allah !

Bila hari dah terang, baru lah perasan betapa ramai nya orang panjat Broga pada pagi tuh ... yg paling ramai golongan remaja & beberapa orang "dewasa tua" yang berjiwa remaja (cth nya yang tengah posing kat atas tuh) ... ;)

Kat atas Broga terserempak dgn geng staf KPTM Ipoh - 2 lady lecturers (Afizah & Intan) bawa pelajar Kelab Fotografi KPTM Ipoh untuk projek fotografi mereka ..

Ada orang tuh dgn penuh karismatik beri "tazkirah awal tahun" kat puncak Broga ... yg lain2 khusyuk mendengar. Dah dah lah tuh, Bro Pyan kita dah cekak pinggang dah tuh ... ;)

Broga Hill is not like most hills with lots of trees, this one is an open space. Langsung tak ada pokok2 besar ... yg banyak nya lalang, kadang2 setinggi manusia !

Actually Broga has 4 summits. So don't get cheated. The 1st one is the most steep / mencanak. Pastu kira moderate or 'okay' lah ... But when you reach the last (4th) one, it becomes challenging again where you need to maneuver a steep climb in between boulders ..

 But worry not, as there are ropes to assist you ..

Fuuh .. what a view ! .. Pemandangan puncak Broga dari sudut ini sangat2 lah memberangsangkan .. saya pasti sesiapa saja yg tengok akan teruja ... ;)

Taking a breather with bro Pyan ... We both share the same name with same interest in hiking and climbing ! In the background is geng trekkers from Kelab Pendaki Putrajaya that spent the night camping at puncak Broga menyambut tahun baru 2011.

Gunung Tok Wan is only about 3.1 km from puncak Broga ... Sembang dgn regular trekkers kat situ, katanya approx 2 hrs trekking (1 way). No need for special gear as the trails are quite 'simple' and clear cut. Cuma perlu bawak enough water supply ...

Sempat explore sebahagian trek ke Gunung Tok Wan. Once you enter the bushes, ada single track, diteduhi dgn byk pokok2 besar ... looks promising, can reserve for next trip, insyaAllah ... ;)

Masa turun, bukan main laju - Bro Napi (organizer for this trip) siap berlari2 ... berdesup ! Flo Jo pun leh kalah beb ... ;)

OTW down, singgah beli my favorite pisang 'kelat keling' (rastali) & star fruit kat Aunty Cina .. mmg manis !

Late breakfast, pekena roti canai & roti Arab kat Restoran MZ (Taman Pelangi Semenyih) .. Foods here are not bad at all .. but still cannot challenge roti canai and thosai at kedai mamak Sect 15 BBBangi .. ;)

Family Trekking Trip to BROGA

Last wkend on 12/12/10, took whole family for a day-pack hiking to Bukit Broga, near Semenyih. It's abt 24 km from Bandar Baru Bangi thru Jln Kajang-Semenyeh. After University of Nottingham campus, you will see this landmark (photo below). On the right is Rabbit Fun Land (ladang arnab). Just turn left to park your car ...

Can see many cars (abt 100 based on my count !) parked under the shades of Kelapa Sawit trees of a private land.

Parking fee was RM2.00 per car. Not bad huh ?

After a short walk from the parking area, you'll see a signage that says : Bukit Broga 1.7km and Gunung Tok Wan 4.8km. Ikut jer trek tuh ...

After abt 200m, you can see makeshift stalls selling local fruits like banana, coconut, papaya & belimbing, soft drinks and even T-shirts ! The fruit seller claims that they did not use insecticides etc, semuanya guna baja "natural".

A cool tin can of 100-plus was sold at RM2.50. A bit too expensive for me .. Anyway, suasana memang meriah, ala-ala macam pasar tani la pulok with aunties n uncles selling their agro products ...

There is even a makeshift toilet just before the ascend .. FOC !

Pagi tuh mmg ramai sungguh yg naik trekking Broga. Mmg jam teruk trek tuh ! Looks just like Mid Valley on weekends .. hehe. Pendek kata boleh berlaga bahu lah antara trekkers yg sedang menurun dgn yg baru nak naik ...

Naik ke puncak mmg curam & mencanak gilerr ... nasib baek hari tak hujan. Itu pun ramai jugak saya nampak hikers yg tergolek !

Alhamdulillah dah conquer Broga ! Bagi saya ini merupakan satu manifestasi dan tanda yg kecederaan Achilles tendon tear dah mula sembuh ... ;) Took almost 4 mths for the tear to heal up to this stage. Honestly, masih ada rasa sikit sengal2 kat lokasi koyak tuh. Doctor kata 6 mths boleh sembuh sepenuhnya, insyaAllah.

MasyaAllah ! cantek sungguh pemandangan dari puncak Broga nih ... nak kena pergi lagi lain kali. May be boleh buat Trans Broga-Gunung Tok Wan ? Anybody interested ?

Cuma kalau nak camping kat puncak tuh kena bawak enough water supply sebab tak ada water source kat puncak. At least 2 bottles of 1.5 liters each person for drinking, wuduk & personal clean up .. ;)
